Rockin' Life - page 12

“Sunshine, on my shoulders, makes me happy!”

Every day you get to choose to be miserable or happy. Ever circumstance that happens, you choose how you react. Are you going to always let what’s going on around you, what’s happening in your external environment effect you? Will you be drenched in the rain, or will you dance in the rain. Always carry your sunshine on the inside. This is the hardest thing to remember, so I want to thank Dan Miller for saying it so often during his on-demand radio show and reminding me!

When it’s cloudy, rainy, thundering even, it’s hard to imagine that the sun is still shining and the sky is still blue above the clouds. At night, the stars still shine and the moon still crosses even if we can’t see it. No matter what’s going on in our lives, the world still turns. Tough times pass just as storms break up and dissipate. Season change just as we go through our own seasons of life. But no matter what’s going on, we still ALWAYS have the option to control how we feel and react. No, you’re not going to be jumping up and down with happiness about getting a flat tire, but since you’re going to have to buckle down and change it anyway, why not decide to enjoy the manual labor, or the puzzle of how to do it and why the whole system works like it does especially when it’s probably not something we do every day. It’s why so many books say “Don’t think of it as a problem, but as an opportunity.” Yeah, I hate that phrase, but when I really remember that’s it’s an opportunity for a new perspective or learning opportunity, then it’s not quite so bad. I know I can take the situation and rock it!

Keep carrying your sunshine inside you!
